What Is Lip Blushing?
Lip blushing is semi-permanent, tattooed makeup that tints your lips using water-based inks.Â
The result is kind of similar to lip fillers — your lips will look a little fuller simply by being defined and enhanced with pigment. However, lip blushing won’t actually change the shape or feeling of your lips.
Instead, it’ll just leave you with a soft, shaded-in color that can enhance your lip symmetry, cover uneven pigmentation or scars, and give you the illusion of bigger, fuller lips.
How Long Does Lip Blushing Last?
You can expect your lip blushing treatment to last between two to three years. The pigment will gradually lighten and fade over time, until your lips slowly return to their natural hue.
Your lips will look lighter after two years than they will after six months, so we recommend yearly refresh sessions to prolong your perfect lip color.
Does Lip Blushing Hurt?
While this is a tattoo on your mouth, your technician will use a topical numbing cream that’ll significantly dull your pain.
Everyone’s pain threshold is different, but in general, the pain of lip blushing is often described as small pinches, and far from unbearable.Â
What Should I Expect After Treatment?
Immediately after your treatment, your lips will appear super colorized, but this is perfectly normal. Once your lips completely heal, which usually takes a few weeks, the color will fade up to 50% and blend naturally with your lips.
Expect to experience some scabbing the first week after your treatment as your skin heals. You’ll want to keep your lips moisturized with heavy-duty lip balm for the first few weeks.
