At Veritas, we are committed to bringing you the best when it comes to beauty services. In a recent Facebook Live video, Devon, Leigh Ann, and Vanadia discuss the best beauty tips and tricks when it comes to maintaining your skin.
The Importance of Skin Conditioning
All three ladies agree that sunscreen, exfoliation, and moisturizing, and ideally, the combination of all three, are key components to conditioning the skin properly.
There is almost nothing more important than protecting your skin from the harmful UV rays emitted by the sun. We recommend using a sunscreen that is SPF 30 or higher every time you go outside.
Devon says that one of the most frequent questions she’s asked in regards to sunscreen is “Which ones are safe for our body and marine life?”.
The answer lies in Veritas’ Honour Ultimate DNA Defense sunscreen. The sunscreen’s zinc oxide base is a natural compound that acts as a physical shield for your skin. Both UVA and UVB rays are 100% blocked from reaching the skin when applied.
Exfoliating and Moisturizing
Vanadia says that she recommends a balance between exfoliation and moisturizing to her clients. It is important not to overdo it; a balance is necessary in order to achieve successful results. Both exfoliation and moisturizing are especially important to apply consistently during the Fall and Winter time.
We recommend the Flawless Sulfate-Free Cleanser or the Iconic Corrective Cleanser for exfoliation. The Sulfate-Free Cleanser will be best for those looking to exfoliate, purify, and brighten their skin. The Iconic Corrective Cleanser is for those looking for an anti-aging product that increases their cellular turnover rate, revealing a more youthful complexion.
For moisturizing, nothing beats our Youth Recovery Crème. It is one of the most luxuriously hydrating restorative lotions that exists on the market.
Pro Beauty Tips for Maintaining Flawless Skin
The ladies discuss several methods and treatments that can help you reach your beauty goals.
Create a Morning and Night Regime
Devon says one of the most common things she hears from clients is that they can’t get around to performing a PM regime. From working to being a mom (and all that comes with that title), by the end of the day you just want to crash.
But guess what? A PM regime doesn’t have to be at nighttime! You can perform your PM regime as soon as you walk in the door. It could be 2pm, 4pm, or when you’re at the gym; as long as you get those products on your skin consistently, you’re going to see results. Devon compares it to going to the gym: “If you go one time out of the month, you’re not going to be in the new Baywatch”, she says. Same goes for if you don’t apply products to your skin consistently, day after day- you’re not going to see results. Consistency is key!
It’s important to clean makeup off every night, Vanadia says. Her pro tip? Keep some makeup wipes in your nightstand for those nights when you’re too tired or forgot to do a full regime. Whatever you do, don’t go to bed with makeup still on your face! That is a one-way ticket to breakout city.
Fraxel Laser Treatments
Fraxel is an erbium laser treatment that produces an 18-20% improvement in skin with each treatment. The laser makes a pixellated pattern that doesn’t fully ablate (melt or erode) the skin. See how it works here!
The Fraxel laser is phenomenal for fixing hollow, sagging, and/or tired eyes. Vanadia says that one of her favorite benefits of Fraxel treatments is the glowing even skin tone afterwards.
Devon points out another perk of Fraxel laser treatments. “It’s important”, she says, “that we’re able to treat various skin types”. The Fraxel laser is not a treatment that is limited to fair-skinned Caucasian individuals, like CO2 laser treatments are.
Another perk? There’s little to no downtime after undergoing a Fraxel laser treatment. That means no need to take days off from work or change your schedule. You can get back to your daily lifestyle almost immediately. We say “almost” because immediately following your Fraxel laser treatment your skin will be irritated, red, and somewhat swollen (Devon compares the feeling to a bad sunburn) and many patients just feel like going home afterwards. By the second day, however, a little concealer should cover any redness that is still present. Note that multiple sessions need to occur in order to achieve 100% correction.
PRP Treatments+ Fraxel Laser Treatments
During the video, a question comes in asking about comparisons between Fraxel laser and PRP treatments. Devon starts by explaining that these are two different things that actually benefit from being used in combination with one another.
She explains that PRP is helpful with regeneration. This can mean anything from building new collagen to supporting structural integrity of the skin. Depending on the area that PRP is applied to, Devon recommends getting both PRP and Fraxel laser treatments done in tandem.
PRP will jumpstart the regenerative process and the Fraxel laser will get rid of all the old tissue while strengthening elasticity. The Fraxel can also take care of fine lines around the eyes and mouth. Leigh Ann adds that the Fraxel also helps remove static outer layer wrinkles while rebuilding collagen.
If you’re seeing static wrinkles, meaning you see wrinkles when your face is completely at ease, then this combination of PRP and Fraxel laser will benefit you. If you only see wrinkles when smiling or expressing yourself, then Botox might be a better option.
This treatment uses a 10 gauge scalpel which gently scrapes off dead skin cells present on the skin’s surface. The goal is to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion.
Leigh Ann personally attests to this treatment, saying it leaves her skin beautiful and glowing, and that it looks like she’s been “airbrushed in a magazine.”
