Regenerative Treatment
Biostimulator
The face does not age all at once. A liquid facelift treats the whole of it — not one line at a time.
A biostimulator does not fill. It signals. Rather than placing a gel substance beneath the skin to create immediate volume, a biostimulator introduces a biocompatible material that activates your body's own fibroblasts — the cells responsible for producing collagen. The result builds gradually, over weeks and months, as your own tissue does the work.
At Veritas Backstage, two biostimulators are used: Sculptra, a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) treatment that works purely as a collagen scaffold, and Radiesse, a calcium hydroxyapatite filler that provides some immediate structural support while also stimulating collagen production over time. Both are appropriate for patients who are managing diffuse volume loss and want a result that develops naturally and lasts considerably longer than traditional filler.
Biostimulators are best understood as a structural investment rather than an immediate correction. They are most effective as part of a layered protocol — not a standalone, single-session treatment — and are a foundational component of the First Signs and Mature aging pathways at Veritas Backstage.
THE EXPERIENCE
Biostimulator sessions take approximately 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the product and the areas being treated. A topical numbing cream is applied before injection. The product is delivered through a fine cannula or needle, with technique and depth determined by the treatment area and the specific biostimulator used.
Following treatment, mild swelling and tenderness are expected for 48 to 72 hours. With Sculptra, patients are instructed to massage the treated areas for several days to support even product distribution. Results are intentionally gradual — visible improvement begins to build over four to twelve weeks as new collagen forms, rather than appearing immediately at the time of injection.
Most biostimulator protocols involve a series of two to three sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart, to achieve full structural results.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
Biostimulators are best suited for patients experiencing diffuse volume loss and skin laxity rather than a single, isolated area of concern — most commonly patients in the First Signs and Mature aging pathways. They are also a strong option for patients who want structural support without the appearance of having had filler, since the result builds through the body’s own collagen rather than an added substance.
The choice between Sculptra and Radiesse depends on the area being treated, how much immediate correction is needed, and the patient’s long-term goals. Sculptra is the appropriate choice when gradual, scaffold-only collagen building is the priority. Radiesse is appropriate when an area needs both some immediate structural support and a biostimulatory effect over time. This distinction is made during consultation — your provider will recommend the product, or combination, appropriate to your anatomy.
Results and maintenance
Results build progressively over two to three months following a completed protocol. Sculptra results typically last two years or more; Radiesse results typically last twelve to eighteen months, with some patients maintaining results longer. Annual or biannual maintenance sessions are typically recommended to sustain the collagen-building response over time. Biostimulators integrate well with neurotoxin, dermal filler, and skin-quality treatments such as RF microneedling as part of a comprehensive structural protocol.
